HOW MANY HOURS OF INFORMATION ARE INCLUDED ON THE EIGHT DVDs ?
THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY DVD PROGRAM is the entertainment industry's only complete and comprehensive PROFESSIONAL COURSE for learning the BUSINESS ASPECTS of an acting career. There are TEN HOURS (600 minutes) of critical BUSINESS and INDUSTRY RELATED information presented on EIGHT separate DVDs.  The information is divided into 60 separate segments.  These DVDs are not about "acting", "craft" or "performance skills" - we leave that up to the thousands acting schools , colleges, universities and academies across the country.. THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY DVD PROGRAM is strictly and relentlessly focused on teaching you the vital "BUSINESS" and "NON-PERFORMANCE" - SKILLS necessary to launch, build and sustain a thriving career in today's highly competitive entertainment industry. Each DVD has and approximate running time of 75 minutes.

WHAT MAKES THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY PROJECT AND “THE ACTOR’S JOURNEY” EIGHT VOLUME DVD SET SO REVOLUTIONARY ?
Although the motion picture industry is over 100 years old, it is sad to say that information and knowledge related to the "BUSINESS" side of the industry - or the essential "non-performance" skills - have NEVER been taught in a comprehensive and meaningful way by the schools, colleges, universities and academies that teach "acting".  The only way an actor could learn the business aspects of the industry was by a frustrating and time consuming process of "trial-and-error". History has shown that ninety-nine percent of all new actors attempting this method burn-out and abandon their potential careers within the first year.

With the advent of THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY PROJECT PROGRAM, actors now have a choice of how to learn this critical information that can advance their careers: an actor can choose to put him/herself through the frustrating process described above to learn the business, or learn everything they need to know from 100 distinguished entertainment industry veterans is just 10 hours!

CAN I FIND INFORMATION ABOUT THE BUSINESS SIDE OF THE INDUSTRY ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE INTERNET ?
As a first step to learn more about the entertainment industry, most new talent turn to the Internet as a resource tool. Unfortunately, when it comes to the BUSINESS side of the industry, the majority of the information presented on the Internet for and about actors is either inaccurate, incomplete or both. To exacerbate the situation, the information that is available is disseminated by individuals who may have had very brief careers in the industry - or, in many instances - may have NEVER worked in the industry at all! Unfortunately, these "self-appointed experts" make a very good living leading brand new, uninformed and inexperienced actors down dead-end paths that waste years of time and financial resources.

One of the purposes of THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY PROJECT was to bring together a distinguished and highly experienced group of INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS to ensure that the information presented is from recognized members of the Entertainment Industry (not individuals on the fringes of the industry - or people who have never worked in the business at all). The credibility of the professionals involved in THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY PROJECT is your assurance that the information is both correct and from the highest sources of the industry.  It is the only course that is endorsed by a substantial number of industry professionals - including members of THE SCREEN ACTOR'S GUILD (SAG), AMERICAN FEDERATION OF TELEVISION AND RADIO ARTISTS (AFTRA), ACTOR'S EQUITY, THE DIRECTOR'S GUILD OF AMERICA (DGA), THE PRODUCER'S GUILD OF AMERICA (PGA) and THE AMERICAN LIBRARY ASSOCIATION!

WHO ARE THE INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS WHO ARE INVOLVED IN THIS PROJECT AND APPEAR ON-SCREEN ON THE EIGHT DVDs ?
THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY PROJECT has brought together over 100 highly successful members of the entertainment - directors, producers, executive producers, show-runners, casting directors, talent agents, talent managers, an amazing cross section of highly recognizable actors - and the presidents of two of Hollywood's most powerful unions, The Screen Actor's Guild and The Director's Guild of America.  Each and every one of these veterans is an experts in his or her field. These professionals - on average - have over twenty-five years of hard-earned experience behind them. Each of the industry veterans who appear on-screen was carefully selected because they possessed the kind of knowledge, information, insight and dedication that only years of experience can bring. These are professionals who are not only recognized by the industry - all have substantial and verifiable credits to their names. Many have been honored with prestigious industry nominations and awards!

IS THERE A LIST OF THE PROFESSIONALS AND CELEBRITIES APPEARING IN THE DVDs ?
Yes. Please go to the web page titled: On-Screen Consultants  – or just click the Link.

HOW ARE “THE ACTOR’S JOURNEY” DVDs DIFFERENT FROM OTHER DVDs, VIDEOS, & BOOKS OFFERED ON OTHER WEBSITES ?
In a word: comprehensiveness and professionalism. We invite you to check-out as many websites offering information and advice and guidance as you possibly can – then ask yourself one question – WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?  We don’t know either.

THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY PROJECT is about presenting information from trusted industry professionals – not one, but over 100 of them. These are pros who have been there - done that. The BUSINESS side of the industry cannot be taught by teachers and instructors far removed from the processes that build careers and lead to work not by individuals on the fringes of the industry who have few and or unsubstantiated industry credits! The BUSINESS side of the industry can only be taught by industry veterans - individuals who have spent years, if not decades, down in the trenches of the industry gaining first-hand knowledge and experience. Ask yourself this question: WHO WOULD YOU RATHER LEARN FROM?

WILL WATCHING THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY DVD’s SAVE ME TIME ?
Yes. The traditional way of learning the business is through the time consuming and frustrating process of trial-and-error. It could easily take 5 to 10 years to learn the information presented on these DVDs. The information presented in “THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY” DVD PROGRAM, can literally streamline this process down to ten intensive hours. The program is, essentially, an intensive "crash course" on the BUSINESS and NON-PERFORMANCE ASPECTS of an actor's career.

WILL THESE DVDs SAVE ME MONEY ?
Yes. Launching an acting career - whether child, teen or adult - is not without costs. A professional actor has learned WHAT to spend money on and WHEN to spend it. The biggest problem facing all new talent is SCAMS.   In new talent's eagerness to launch a career - common sense and basic gut instincts are somehow mysteriously abandoned or ignored. Most new talent fall prey to the unscrupulous and predatory practices of TALENT SCOUT SCAMS, TALENT SEARCH SCAMS and UNETHICAL TALENT DEVELOPMENT SCHOOLS. Please be advised that there are a plethora of companies and individuals that exist around the periphery of the industry that are dedicated to exploiting an new talent's lack of knowledge about how the legitimate entertainment industry actually procures new talent. These companies and individuals range from what we classify as GRAY AREAS (legitimate – though not inexpensive opportunities) to SCAM OPERATIONS to outright CRIMINAL ACTIVITY.  A clear warning sign to all new talent is that all of these companies and individuals utilize the same marketing tactic to get you in the door: they all make outrageous promises - PROMISES of introductions (to agents, managers and casting directors), PROMISES of acting work,
PROMISES to help advance your career, PROMISES of "short-cuts" into the business - and, PROMISES of stardom and fame. Please be advised that anyone working in the "legitimate" mainstream entertainment industry will NEVER PROMISE YOU ANYTHING! The legitimate part entertainment industry is not associated with, nor condones the practices and activities as described above. The ONLY way actors can protect themselves at the inception of a potential career is to thoroughly educate  themselves about the "real" practices, processes and protocols that advance careers and lead to legitimate industry work.    YOU CANNOT BE EXPLOITED IF YOU ARE INFORMED

THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY DVDs has dedicated an entire segment to all of the questionable and/or unethical activities that plague the industry and take advantage of new talent. After watching THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY DVDs, Actors will be fully informed as to WHO to give their hard earned dollars to. THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY wants every dollar spent – spent on useful tools, industry compliant photos, meaningful training and career advancing activities.

WHAT ARE THE EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH LAUNCHING AN ACTING CAREER ?  Launching an acting career is not free.  There are many expenses that are encountered every step of the way.

TYPICAL EXPENSES ACTOR'S ENCOUNTER AT THE INCEPTION OF THEIR CAREERS:

- CLASSES and TRAINING - At minimum, expect to spend $3000 - $6000 per year on initial and continued training and classes. If you are planning to attend a highly respected acting academy - plan on spending $25,000 - $35,000 (or more) per year.   These are the basic and advanced classes that teach all actor's the "art and craft" of acting and performance skills.  BE AWARE... the schools that teach acting: colleges, junior colleges, universities and academies focus only on developing your talent as an actor.  THESE SCHOOLS DO NOT CONCERN THEMSELVES WITH TEACHING YOU THE BUSINESS ASPECTS OF YOUR CAREER AS AN ACTOR.  THAT IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SET OF SKILLS THAT MUST BE LEARNED.  IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO LEARN THEM.    Acting, lmage and talent do not get actors into the business.  Acting, lmage and talent do not lead you to work.   If an actor chooses not to learn the BUSINESS SIDE of the industry - that actor's chances of launching and sustaining a viable career is almost zero.

- THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY - 8 VOLUME DVD PROGRAM - ($229)  This ten-hour long "masters" course teaches actors everything they need to know about the BUSINESS SIDE of the industry. The DVDs teaches actors how to save time by avoiding non-productive endeavors and scams. The course also teaches actors what to spend their money on and why.  THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY is taught by 100 distinguished actors and entertainment industry professionals (directors, producers, executive producers, show-runners, casting directors, talent agents, talent managaers, actors - and the presidents of two of Hollywood's most powerful trade unions: The Screen Actor's Guild and The Director's Guild of America).  THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY is endorsed by members of all the key trade unions: The Screen Actor's Guild, The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Actor's Equity Association, The Director's Guild of American and The Producer's Guild of America.  THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY is also endorsed and recommended as an essential educational tool for actors by The American Library Association.

- PHOTOS SESSIONS & HEADSHOTS - A Professional Photo Session and resulting Headshot can range anywhere from $300 (on the low side) to over $1000 (with a well established and/or "hot" photographer). Sometimes you get what you pay for - sometimes you don't. Please be aware that just because someone owns a camera and takes pictures - it is a specialized skill to work with actors and elicit a professional looking photograph that captures the essence of what that actor is all about. An actor should be fully prepared to pay for two photo sessions - the INITIAL HEADSHOT is the first photo an actor goes "fishing" with - to see if anyone (agent, manager, casting director) relates to that actor and is interested in representing him or her. After signing with an Agent or Manager - an actor will usually be required to pay for another photo session and a more "professional" looking HEADSHOT. The actor will be sent a photographer that is recommended by the agent or manager. That photographer generally has a working relationship with the agent or manager and knows what the agent requires - photographically speaking - to sell your image to casting directors, producers and directors.

- PHOTOGRAPHIC REPRODUCTION - Plan on spending anywhere from $100 to $300 on initial photographic reproduction. This duplicate photo is mass reproduced from your 8x10 Master Positive or the High-Resolution Master Image on your photo CD. You'll be ordering quantities of real processed Photographs or high quality Lithographs.

- DEMO REEL - Plan on spending anywhere from $500 to $1000 to assemble (Edit)  a professional looking DEMO REEL of your work (Video or Film Clips extracted from Movies, TV Shows - or anything that you have performed in that was recorded by a camera).  If you have not worked yet and/or have no film or video to pull scenes or clips from - plan on spending anywhere from $1000 to $2000 to prepare, professionally shoot and edit some scenes that you can then assemble into DEMO REEL.  It's is far better (and cheaper) to assemble your DEMO REEL from "real" projects (TV Shows, Movies - even Student Films) that you have actually appeared in - however, if you are not that far along in your early career - anything that will show your talent, range, skills and likeness is better than nothing.  Many casting decisions today can be made from seeing an actor's work in his or her demo reel.

ADDITIONAL EXPENSES ACTOR'S ENCOUNTER AS THEIR CAREERS PROGRESS:

UNION INITIATION FEE EXPENSES:
-SCREEN ACTOR'S GUILD (SAG) - (INITIATION FEE - $2211) Should you be lucky enough to be cast in a SAG movie or television show - you will will receive a Taft-Hartley waiver - allowing you to join THE SCREEN ACTOR'S GUILD - one of the two unions for actors. There are pros and cons to initiating this waiver and joining the Union immediately. If you don't know why you SHOULDN'T join immediately - then you need THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY PROJECT DVD course to keep from making a irrevocable mistake made by most new talent in their eagerness to become card carrying members of this union.

- AMERICAN FEDERATION OF TELEVISION AND RADIO ARTISTS UNION (AFTRA) is the other Union representing Actors. (INITIATION FEE: $1300)

- ACTOR'S EQUITY ASSOCIATION (AEA) - The AEA is the union that represents Stage Actors (INITIATION FEE: $1100)

GRAY AREA EXPENSES:
- PAY TO AUDITION SHOWCASES - ($50 to $200) to audition in front of a casting director. This is a big controversy in the business right now. Should actor's have to pay for "access"?   Is it a legitimate learning experience?

- PAY TO AUDITION - ($50 to $100) Some actors are willing to pay $$$ to go out an audition. THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY PROJECT'S position on this matter is that this type of practice is unethical.

- TALENT CONSULTANTS - ($2500 - $5000) New talent sometimes hands over big money to individuals and/or companies who "promise" to help the actor break into the business and make introductions. The position of "talent consultant' is an entirely made-up position - and actors should be very wary of anyone introducing themself as someone who specialized in helping actors launch their career.

- NATIONAL TALENT SHOWCASES - ($5000 to $8000) That's what it costs to prepare for, fly to, stay in a hotel and pay the registration fee for such a showcase. The upside of this type of opportunity is that they do attract some legitimate members of the industry - most of whom are paid to be there. The down-side is - showcases of this nature are very expensive to attend and are very competitive - with hundreds, if not thousands of actors and performers vying for attention and a break. The biggest problem with these type of showcases is that the actors who attend are not fully prepared in their art and craft to warrant spending such big money to attend. Unless you are at the top of your game - this is a very expensive way to gain typical auditioning experience. The big winner here is the NATIONAL TALENT SHOWCASE - they reap millions of dollars from the attendees. They make this money whether you walk away with a contract or leave empty-handed!

THE ECONOMY SEEMS TO BE IN SHAMBLES - IS NOW A GOOD TIME TO LAUNCH A CAREER AS AN ACTOR OR PERFORMER IN THE MOVIE AND TELEVISION INDUSTRIES ? Surprisingly, the Entertainment Industry not only thrives during hard times - it actually - historically speaking - flourishes. During the Great Depression of the 1930s - the entertainment industry experienced one of its largest growth periods and prospered - as did those involved in the industry! During the economic turndown of the early 1990s - the entertainment industry grew by 20%. During the economically depressed years following the September 11, 2001 attack - the entertainment industry - grew by an astounding 50%.

RIGHT NOW is prime time for anyone contemplating a career in the entertainment industry. The motion picture and television industries are undergoing another period of growth and expansion as both areas struggle to keep up with demands for content by the networks and theater chains. Additionally, new opportunities and demands for new media content by the Internet could be limitless. The question is - are you, as an actor prepared to take advantage of this situation?

CAN I PURCHASE THE EIGHT DVDs SEPARATELY ?
No. THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY is an complete course. The DVDs must be viewed in their entirety - and each segment in the order presented.

I JUST WANT TO ACT AND PERFORM - WHY IS IT EVEN NECESSARY TO LEARN THE BUSINESS SIDE OF THE INDUSTRY ?
This comes as a surprise to all actors – but the real work of any actor is finding opportunities to work. When an actor is up on stage or in front of a camera – that is his or her reward for all the hard work they did to get that job! Without a complete understanding of the BUSINESS side of the industry, an actor won’t know what to do first – let alone how to find work!

DO I NEED TO MOVE TO HOLLYWOOD TO LAUNCH MY CAREER AND TO SEEK WORK ?
No. That is one of the myths that is perpetuated about the entertainment industry. The Motion Picture and Television industries have become decentralized over the past 20 years. The Screen Actor’s Guild (the parent union for all professional actors) maintains offices in over thirty cities around the USA. These offices exist because there is a permanent base of actors living and working those cities.

It is advisable for all actors to start LOCALLY because there is much less competition. It is highly recommended that actors not move to Hollywood or New York until he or she has accumulated a good deal of working experience and amassed a fairly sophisticated DEMO REEL of their work. Think of Hollywood and New York as the major leagues. When you compete in those markets you are competing against the very best in the business - actors that are not only highly trained and experienced - but have extensive work displayed on their demo reels. The work presented on a professional actor's demo reel is usually work lifted from major studio feature films and/or prime-time and highly rated television shows. Understand this: you will competing against these actors to secure work!

Yes. THE ACTOR'S JOURNEY FOR KIDS is now available at www.TheActorsJourneyForKids.com

OPPORTUNITIES TO WORK PROFESSIONALLY IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY
There there are more opportunities to work as actors and performers in all the areas and facets of the entertainment industry than ever before - not only in Hollywood - but in every major city across the country. The entertainment industry supports ethnic and cultural diversity - and is one of the most equal opportunity employers there is.  ALL ARE WELCOME!  The only requirements are professional level acting skills, and understanding of the Industry and how it operates in relation to procuring new and existing talent and - most importantly - a mastery of the unique, yet mercurial, BUSINESS SKILLS that allow each actor to function skillfully and successfully in that industry.
